    What You’ll Learn

    Students have the opportunity to gain skills through intensive hands-on and quality instruction, while working alongside master ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) technicians in a full-service, interactive automotive lab designed to simulate current industry standards. Curriculum is focused on safety, tool usage, and operation of an auto mechanics auto service facility and is designed to graduate entry-level technicians. Areas of study include brakes, steering, suspension, and engine mechanical and basic automotive maintenance. Students are offered an ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) approved curriculum with hands-on experience.

      What You’ll Learn

      The Construction Trades program prepares students for a variety of different careers within the construction industry. Students will learn terminology, basic safety, use of hand and power tools, laying out and constructing floors, walls and ceiling joists and roof framing of a residential home. Students will also learn about exterior finishing, drywall installation, window, door, floor trim and cabinet installation.

              What You’ll Learn

              If you are interested in a highly fulfilling career helping people every day, firefighting could be for you. Today’s firefighters are expected to have expertise in a vast array of subjects. Through the Area 18 Fire & Rescue program, you will learn many of the diverse skills needed to be a modern firefighter. With an academically rigorous curriculum and the ongoing practice of active hands-on skills, you will gain the foundation for how to “save lives and protect property.”

              Upon completion of the Fire & Rescue program, you will have had the opportunity to gain the following certifications:

              • AED/CPR
              • IDHS HazMat Awareness
              • IDHS HazMat Operations
              • IDHS Firefighter 1, and possibly IDHS Firefighter II

              Along with these certifications, you will also have had the opportunity to earn up to 15 college credit hours from Ivy Tech.

                    What You’ll Learn

                    Students will learn many techniques to join metal parts together through this program, including shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding and gas tungsten arc welding. The program also offers students hands-on experience in oxy-acetylene and plasma cutting, along with computer-assisted welding, burning, and programming. By the time you graduate, you’ll be ready for employment, an apprenticeship or higher education in this high demand field.
